PALL Marksman

More Surface Area Yields Higher Performance Filtration

Pall, a leader in filtration and separations technology, has developed a new range of filter elements that combine the performance advantages of cartridge filters with the ease of use of bag filter systems. MARKSMAN series elements offer a unique combination of benefits. Filtration customers no longer have to choose between cartridges and bag technology. Marksman elements are available in three configurations. Marksman Poly-Fine II filters are constructed of ultra-thin, high performance melt-blown media. Marksman Poly-Fine XLD series filters are extended life depth filters with a unique pleated depth configurations. Thicker multi-layered pleat pack combines the best of pleated and depth technologies. Marksman Nexis A filters deliver all of the advantages of Pall's "Cold" technology. The unique Co-located Large Diameter fiber construction produce a fiber matrix with excellent structural integrity assuring the media does not shift. The proprietary manufacturing process produces a melt blown depth filter with the most precise removal efficiencies, the greatest consistency and exceptional void volume for high contaminant holding capacity. Filtration Control

To remove suspended solids for many processes the pre-coat or diatomaceous earth (DE) filters are used to remove any suspended solids. There are many processes that require a physical separation of one of more on the components. It is important to know when any separation process has failed or is not operating efficiently. This results in the high concentrations of suspended. There need to be some type of monitor to detect filter failure to minimize downstream contamination. A continuous filter separates solids by entrapping the suspended material in the filter medium while allowing the liquid portion to pass. The build-up the trapped solids will increase the pressure drop across the filter. The Mettler Ingold Forward Scatter Model 8300/8200 is designed to measure levels of turbidity before and after the filter. If very low levels are expected or required (0-500 ppm) it is best to measure the filter product with the Mettler Ingold Forward Scatter Model 8300FS/8400. Forward scatter is best for extreme low levels of turbidity. Turbidimeters have also been use to monitor and control the DE addition and dosing. By monitoring the addition we can assure the proper amount of DE is applied to the filter. This optimizes DE usage and filter performance. This is done by using the analyzer to detect when the filtered product is below the required level. The dual benefit is maximum on-line time and minimum DE usage. .
